Going to the library

21st January 15

In order to teach and show the importance of reading, once a week pupils from year 1 of Primary Education go to the library for an hour during the English lesson. We are encouraging the pupils into the habit of reading because we think that learning to read is about listening and understanding. Through hearing stories, children are exposed to a rich and wide vocabulary. This helps them build their own vocabulary and improve their understanding when they listen, which is vital as they start to read. Moreover, they have lots of books to choose from, so that they can enjoy and imagine their own stories while reading, laying on the beautiful carpet and sitting down on the comfortable sofas we have there!
